K-12 School Presentations

Be prepared to have your students experience the wondrous world of the Mexica/Aztecs in an interactive presentation that includes music and indigenous instruments, oral tradition stories, poetry, and enlightened narratives - all from the indigenous perspective!

Throughout this cultural/educational presentation students will learn about the Mexica culture (more commonly known as the Aztec culture), the Nahuatl language, arts, ceremonies, traditions, and foods.

Michael Heralda brings and shares numerous hand-made indigenous styled instruments and allows students the opportunity for interactive, improvisational participation. There are many ways for students to learn and this tactile experience of participating in the presentation supports and bridges the learning process to through the physical experience of playing the instruments - they have a physical connection to the stories and information shared. And students can ask questions, which will be addressed during the presentation. Students are not merely observers during an Aztec Stories presentation, they become active participants!

Through the medium of music, especially as utilized in the "Aztec Stories" program, your students will come away with a new sense of respect for this incredible culture. For those students who are connected to this culture it also solidifies and strengthens their self-esteem, pride, honor, and helps them develop a solid foundation for self-awareness.

Your students will learn to sing songs in the Nahuatl language. They will learn about the ancient instruments. They will learn about the connection that men and women share with all elements of nature. They will hear stories that reveal ancient wisdom and knowledge. They will get a view of the Mexica/Aztec world that few can witness without the aid of an experienced guide.

Michael has fine-tuned his program for any age group. He has presented his "Aztec Stories" program to over 300 K-12 schools across the United States. Michael Heralda's "Aztec Stories" program is truly "Edu-tainment!"
